Hm. For some reason I can't see my own blog. Figures. posted by Steph at 11:37 AM[edit]

Well, things finally turned for the better at 6:55.
Susan Callahan called, absolutely embarrassed that her daughter hadn't shown up tonight. She's just sure that Julie had forgotten, and was all apologies and wanting to make it right. She was especially sorry that Eva had been so disappointed after looking so forward to the night.
Friday night, we will go see Shrek. Babysitting provided, and free tickets. And a much more convienient location as well.
It did turn out right. posted by Steph at 7:02 PM[edit]
Damn it all to hell.
We got free tix to go see Shrek sneak-preview-like with Jono. Eva was excited. I was excited. Jono was excited. I got directions to the place, and Jono promised to hold us a place in line. I got a babysitter, and everything seemed set.
4:40 came and went with no babysitter. I wanted her here then so that I could take five minutes to explain stuff, show her where to find my cel number, junk like that, and then at a quarter to five, Eva and I would be on the road to North Atlanta. (We live on the South side.) No problem..she's running a tad late.
5:00 came and went. I called her house, she wasn't there. Assumed she was on her way.
5:15 came and went. Now I'm getting antsy and called her house again. Got the machine. Left a message. Eva's beginning to get upset.
5:30 came and went. It's getting critical now. I begin calling every teenager I knew to find someone just to get here so we could go. No dice.
5:45 came and went. I called her house again and left a message on the machine for her mom, letting her know the girl hadn't showed.
6:00 came and went. I called again and left another message saying we didn't need her. We gave up.
It's 6:20 now, and I am hopping mad. Eva's been bawling since 6:00. Why can't people just take responsibility for themselves anymore? When I say I'm going to do something for someone, you better believe I'm going to be there or I call and let someone know I can't. I called Jono's cel four times after 5:30, praying he had it turned on, intending to let him know we'd be late, and finally to let h im know we weren't coming. I hopehopehope he enjoyed the show.
It wouldn't be so bad if if were something I didn't particularly want to see. But I REALLY wanted to see Shrek.
Ick. Has it really been two weeks since I last updated my blog?? Wow...sorry about that, everyone.
Lots of updates. Eva gets her braces tomorrow, and I'm not at all looking forward to the fight that this will entail at the orthodontic office. They can't say I didn't warn them, though. I just hope it won't be too bad.
Last Saturday evening, we became a two car family again, for the first time in....(insert counting on fingers here) seven years. I must say, it's nice to have a little freedom and not having to worry about taking John to work in order to have the car. It just saves a few miles every day but it will make a big difference cumumlatively. There are already over 100k miles on my car and anything that helps will be good.
Our new car is a little black Saturn sedan, '96 model stick shift. Nice little car, only 69k miles on it. (compare to the Ford station wagon, which is also a '96, and has the mileage I already stated.) I'm glad we got a little fuel-efficient job instead of a gas-guzzling SUV. It's my opinion (feel free to disagree, it won't offend me) that men who have to have a huge SUV must have a shortage in some other area.
More to come...Jono is here. posted by Steph at 3:57 PM[edit]
