Wow. I haven't updated in a couple of days?

Do you like to play games? Here's a cool site to go to. It's called Flipside.com. You used to be able to win points (or flips) for the games you play but they're revamping their prize structure. Supposedly it's going to be easier to win prizes but I'll believe that when I see it. Still, it's a cool site to go play games on.

More later...

Never did get around to posting more yesterday. It's just as well, I didn't really have anything to say.

The Oscars came and went without too many surprises. Russell needs to lighten up. He won, after all, and he can afford to be a little magnanamous. (But Steve Martin would NOT have been my choice for Oscar host. I think he's just obnoxious.) Julia looked lovely, but didn't you just love her hair?? I want hair like that.

Bjork's dead swan costume was a bit much, and J-Lo needed to put a scarf on, but other than that, I think the dresses were quite nice. Nothing I saw was too bad, except for the two I just mentioned. The Art Director that won (can't remember who) had on a gorgeous long coat that was lined in red satin..and how did you like Samuel Jackson's duster?? -swoon- I love that style of clothes on a man. Just a little old-fashioned.

It was a nice night of dreaming, remembering dead dreams and forgotten ambitions. I wanted to be up on that stage, years and years ago. Ah, but actresses don't come out of backwoods Louisiana.

3.25.2001

Well, it did end up raining yesterday after all. With the rain came the chill again, though I can't say it's really cold. Just cooler.

Not much to tell today. I'm going to go take a nap. Maybe I'll have more to post tonight.

3.24.2001

Saturdays are nice. It's pretty and sunny out (Who said it was going to rain this morning??) and I'm feeling better. The cold is still here but not quite as intense as yesterday.

Usually on Saturdays I get to sleep in as late as I want. However, this morning Teddy decided I'd slept long enough, came in and practically yelled in my ear, "Wake up, Mama!" I'd have thought it was cute if it hadn't made me jump out of my skin. Well, it *was* cute, but the giggle afterwards when he'd realized he'd startled me was even cuter. Three-year-olds are so sweet.

It's an outside day, so I'm going to go get ready for it. Ciao until later.

3.23.2001

Ugh. I hate being sick. I have this really nasty cold that has settled in my chest & sinuses and it's giving me all sorts of trouble.

It wouldn't be so bad if I could sleep today during my few minutes of naptime that I could take. But today I actually get a chance to go out to eat for lunch. A real restaurant and everything. And no kids. I'd gladly give up sleep time any other day for that. But today? I honestly don't feel up to it, but since it's one of John's military functions, I'll go. I really should get to know some of the other spouses in the unit. You never know when you might need to call on one of them.

3.22.2001

Ah, yes...success, at long last. I have everything where I want it now.

HTML is fun..but it's definately a challenge when you're learning as you go!!

Ugh. Waking up at 5:30 am bites.

3.21.2001

More tinkering...

tink....tink....tink.....

A second day of freeeeeeeedom!

So, a man went to the doctor and held up his arm. "Doc, it hurts when I do like this!"
So the doc held up his arm and said, "Then don't do like this!"

3.20.2001

Alright! I finally got through to a techie who knows what he is talking about!!

It seems the server that my wonderful DSL line is on has been fluctuating for the past three days. This causes the problem I've been having with everything just suddenly stopping. Add this to the fact that I had some of my configurations wrong, (he so kindly and so patiently went through every one of them with me) and you have a mess just trying to get logged on.

But now that seems to be much better. I might still have some fluctuations but things look and feel a lot smoother than they have for most of the day.

Thank God for techies.

What an interesting day so far! Today, Stephen was enrolled into the Georgia Pre-K program. He claims he doesn't like preschool but after begging me for three months to attend, I think he just needs to get used to being in a structured setting again. He goes from 8 am to 2:30 pm, which makes the afternoon pickups a tad hairy--Teddy has to be picked up at 2 and then I have a fifteen to twenty minute drive to Stephen's school. Whew.

Later today, Eva has piano lessons, and we get our new sofa. Did I mention that we got a new computer table over the weekend? It's big! And I have room to put all my stuff now.

More frustration with our connection. I hope I can figure it out soon.

3.19.2001

Don't you hate it when things post twice and you have to come back and delete?

It's Lenny's fault, he broke the plate, he's very naughty,
Just how was I to know he hated Art Bigotti?
He gave it to a crocodile, who chewed it up for quite a while,
It's Lenny's fault, he broke the plate, it's true...
And that's the tale I have to tell to you.
--Junior Asparagus, Veggie Tales - The Fib from Outer Space

More VeggieTales!

Here is something to make you laugh...(I hope!)

3.18.2001

Ah, Sunday. A day of rest.

Not much going on. I have more practice to do on my solo; all the words were forgotten, and it sounded awful. But the concert is still five weeks (?) away. All but two of the songs I've already memorized.

Teddy has his hearing test tomorrow at 11. I can't imagine that anything will be found out of the ordinary but it's good to have the test done anyway. I also need to get Stephen enrolled in preschool at some point. What a concept, to have a little time to myself during the day.

3.17.2001

Saturdays are such a dead night. Noone I normally talk to is online. I guess I'll go to bed..there's no one that needs me tonight.

Good night, Mr. and Mrs. America, and all the ships at sea.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!! Do you have on green? Or am I gonna hafta pinch ya?

3.16.2001

What a busy day. It didn't start out that way, but intentions can quickly be tossed aside when you look at the clock wrong.

I panicked when I thought I was running late for Teddy's preschool and ended up arriving there a full hour early. Yuck. So I wasted a full hour driving back and forth, but at least I had an idea of how to get to the airport from Teddy's school. After I finally did drop Teddy off, Stephen and I made a beeline for the airport to wait for John's arrival. Stephen made a new friend while watching airplanes.

And now Daddy's home!

Daddy's always good for extra entertainment, so once we picked up Teddy, got home, and picked up Eva, we drove to Garden Ridge and then to Barnes and Noble. After that, home, and another busy day settles to calm again. I'm glad John's home.

3.15.2001

Jono popped by out of the blue just as supper was ready. (Radar?) So of course, being the mom/big sister/best friend that I am, I invited him in for some supper. It was a nice visit as it always is. I got to talk with a real adult for a while and the kids had a novel playmate. Eva got to show off her new Blogspot and Jono pronounced it quite nice. He also liked her new glasses.

John comes home tomorrow. (YAYY!!) And we will ALL be happy to see him. Daddy has been very missed.

Back and forth, back and forth. It's a 30 minute drive roundtrip to Teddy's school, and he only goes for two hours.

But it's so worth it.

So the headache hasn't gone away still. Yuck. But it's manageable. Either I need new glasses, which is likely, or it's just that time of the month, also quite likely. Maybe it's both.

Or maybe it's this baby screaming in my ear that he wants to go see LarryBoy.com. That's probably the most likely of all.

::toddles off with Teddy to LarryBoy.com::

You know, the selfishness of some people really astounds me. I honestly don't think I ask for much from my friends. A simple 'how are you?' would be nice occasionally. Especially since I make myself so constantly available to listen. Ah, well.

Maybe it is too much to ask. Or maybe I'm being the selfish one.
(And Jono, it isn't you. You know who it is.)

3.14.2001

Isn't this cool?? I'm learning more about HTML in this one day than I've learned in the six and a half years I've been online! (Thank you, Jono! I could NEH-VAH have done it without you!)

I think I'm getting the hang of this thing.

More twiddling, more tinkering. And I'm finally learning what's what in html. Strange. I always thought myself a bit computer literate, but it's amazing what you can learn when you want to make something look nice.

Ugh. My headache's coming back, and I still have stuff to do. And listening to Poke'mon behind me is NOT helping.

Wow. After all this..and the site is looking like I want it to look now! It's a beginning, at least. I may continue to twiddle with it here and there.

Wow, like my site? Isn't this cool? It's like a journal that I can type my thoughts into whenever I feel like it.

So, another day. Jono and I had a terrific visit yesterday. I got to get some errands done without the boys, and Jono got to play with the kids and have a homecooked meal. Not a bad trade, I'd say, and I think he agrees. I got a chance to read almost all of Jono's poetry while he was here. I really does hope he puts it all on a website somewhere, and I told him so. Perhaps he will. He's a wonderful poet and should have a forum somewhere. I hope he publishes someday. He already reads once a month, I think, at one of the bookstores here in Atlanta.

John's still up in Little Rock. TDY can be a good thing, but I do miss him.
